Taking a Break to Focus: Sometimes We Need All Need to Take a Break

Day 73 of 80 Days of Excellence

From the Cool Cat Teacher Blog by Vicki Davis

The last few weeks have been very difficult. While I’m not going to go into the reasons, it has been a combination of personal and professional stress in many ways for me. So, as I started thinking about the need I have for a “spring break,” I realized that sometimes it is important to stop things to focus.

Part of what I’m working on is a ladies Bible Study on excellence. The study has me focusing on the book of Daniel. The man, Daniel, had an “excellent spirit.” Well, near the end of the book, he had a perplexing problem and stepped down from his leadership post as second in the kingdom to focus on that one issue.

So, I guess it is somewhat poetic that I would call a stop to focus on understanding Daniel and excellence.

I don’t usually stop for anything but right now it is necessary. I need to focus and make sure that the work I do is grounded, accurate and excellent. I cannot teach about excellence and not be anything but that.

Sometimes excellence requires dropping things and focusing on that one thing. So, here I go.

This post is day 73 of 80 days of excellence. I’ve created an email list below for those of you want to be emailed the full posts written as part of this series.
